Przewalski's horse is a rare and endangered wild horse named after a Russian colonel who believed he had discovered this breed of wild horse in 1878. Its population is even slightly smaller than that of giant pandas. At present, there are 954 Przewalski's horses living in the wild at the natural reserve.
