The People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Wednesday introduced a 17 article auditing regulation to step up the fight against corruption in the Chinese military.According to the regulation, all malpractice uncovered by the PLA audit office will be transferred to military law enforcers.Audit authorities are banned from replacing such transference with lenient punishments such as fines or criticism reports, according to Li Qinghe, the PLA's chief auditor.Zhao Keshi, head of the PLA General Logistics Department, said auditors will watch closely over military funds, expenditure, assets and all economic activities of the military will be audited. The Chinese military stepped up oversight of its officials when Xi Jinping became chairman of the Central Military Commission in November 2012.In September 2013, the CMC issued a guideline requiring all military officials to go through a thorough audit before they are promoted or retire.
