8th Int'l Cultural Industry Expo opens

November 8, 2013 -- The 8th China Beijing International Culture & Creation Industry Expo (ICCIE 2013) opened on the evening of Nov. 6 in Beijing, attracting delegations from home and abroad. The theme of the ICCIE 2013 is "Promoting cultural trade, speeding up economic upgrade." From Nov.7 to Nov.10, over 100 activities will take place at the China International Exhibition Center, the main venue, and more than 40 other exhibition centers across Beijing. New achievements, products and projects from the cultural & creative industries will be exhibited. The event attracted delegations from 23 provinces across China and international organizations such as the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations (IFRRO), the International Licensing Industry Merchandiser's Association (LIMA) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). More than 30 delegations from 26 countries such as America, France, Britain, the Netherlands, Russia and South Korea -- as well as China��s Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan -- also joined the event. The exhibition will be a showcase for the latest products and projects from over 1,800 businesses both from home and abroad in various fields such as animation (games), cultural tourism, design creativity, sports, cultural relics and museums. The Taiwan arts & crafts exhibition, which has thus far taken place six years in a row, will see 150 Taiwan enterprises take part. The ICCIE 2013 will be a stage for hundreds of prospective projects to seek cooperation opportunities. The cultural industry, combined with financial innovation, will receive some special attention. Beijing International Copyright Trade Center will establish China��s first cultural & creative industry mutual-aid fund and host a series of promotional activities. The ICCIE is co-hosted by China's Ministry of Culture, the General Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and TV, and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. It has become a state-level platform for international exchange and cooperation. The previous seven sessions have seen deals worth 365.4 billion yuan (US$58.9 billion), according to statistics.
