Chinese embassy in Japan celebrates 87th anniversary of PLA

The Chinese Embassy in Japan on Tuesday hosted a reception to mark the upcoming 87th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).About 360 guests, including representatives of Japanese Self Defense Force, military attaches from embassies in Japan and foreign diplomats attended the event.Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua extended his warm congratulations to the anniversary that falls on August 1. He said that the PLA is a troop of glorious traditions. In the new historical period, it plays a more important role not only in national defense but also in safeguarding world peace and stability."The PLA actively participates in UN peacekeeping operations and has made its due contribution to the stability and prosperity of this region and even the world," said Ambassador Cheng.Chinese Defense Attache Xu Bin, in his speech, reviewed the PLA 's positive contribution to world peace and stability as well as China's commitment to peaceful development."China never uses threats of force to any other country, never takes the initiative to foment a dispute," said Xu. "However, no country should expect China to swallow the bitter fruit that undermines its sovereignty, security or development interests."This year marks the 75th anniversary of the World War II. Regarding this, Xu said it is worthy of drawing lessons from the profound and painful history, never allowing anyone to reverse the course of history or allowing the tragedy of aggressive war to repeat.Established on August 1, 1927, the PLA is the principal body of China's armed forces encompassing the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Second Artillery Corps.
