The VW Touareg has been in production since 2002, it is a medium sized luxury crossover type SUV. The Touareg was the result of an internal partnership between the VW Group, which includes Audi, VW and Porsche. Products of the venture were the VW Touareg, the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne, all three cars are different in style and equipment. All three models are produced at the VW plant in Bratislava. The second generation of the Touareg came out in 2010; it is available with four engine choices. There are two diesels, a 3.0 litre V6 and a 4.2 litre V8 with 237 and 335bhp respectively. The petrol range is made up of two very efficient v6 engine; there is the 3.6 litre model that combines BlueMotion technology and a hybrid model that uses a 3.0 V6 engine. The BlueMotion model has 276bhp while the hybrid has 328bhp. The hybrid Touareg is able to out drag many hot hatches at the traffic lights. Using its combination of turbo and supercharging the hybrid can do 0-62 mph in a very impressive 6.5 seconds. The new Volkswagen Touareg has ?glare free high beam? a first in the automotive world, the system continually and gradually adjusts not only the range of the high-beam, but also its pattern. The beam pattern changes its direction continually so that vehicles in front are not being illuminated, while the area surrounding them is being constantly illuminated at high beam intensity. Standard equipment on the Touareg, across all models include: leather trim, touch-screen satellite navigation with DAB radio, six airbags, burr walnut interior trim, 2Zone climate control and 4MOTION four wheel drive.
