GPS Units are being marketed more now than they were just a few years ago. It was very recently that most people would look at a GPS and think "I don't need that I can just write down directions." These people are now thinking more along the lines of which system should they buy. There has been a huge jump in demand which has caused a rather large supply increase too. This will no doubt make the choice of the right system a bit more difficult. How do you know you are shopping the right way for your new GPS? We will discuss this issue in this article.
Are you particular about the instructions you are given? Do you require live help when you need it most? Is it ok to you to have to listen to a computer read from a map accessed from a satellite? These are important factors to consider. You will find that the GPS systems such as ON Star that offer the availability of a live person are more expensive than many handheld systems but they are definately an asset when you find yourself lost of have missed your turn and need more direction. The real time instruction you will receive from a live person is much more pleasing than anything else. It is easy to save alot of money with the systems that give you preloaded information from a computer. It really depends on your reaction time and what makes you feel the most comfortable.
Make sure you understand what the going market rate is for the GPS system that you have chosen to buy. This will keep you safe when a retailer attempts to make the price go sky-high on the system you have selected. If you are aware of how much your system should cost, there will be no unnecessary fretting about whether or not someone is being dishonest about their "standard" pricing. It's pretty similar to shopping for a car: analyze the "blue book" value to be sure you won't get taken advantage of. That's just good shopping.
Be sure to look for good return policies, warranties and money back guarantees. If your new unit malfunctions or breaks you don't want the hassle of a store that won't honor their warranty. You of course never want to be buried in bureacracy just to have a system replaced when it goes bad. It is important to avoid a bad warranty to keep from having to just trash a broken system and buy a new one just because the store you purchased it from didn't have a good enough return policy. This is quite important to remember especially if you are among those who are not used to working with GPS units.
Almost everyone owns a GPS system. Not too long ago, they were considered a trinket that few people viewed as a necessity. Today most people consider a GPS more of a necessity.
