2 Chinese naval vessels call at Myanmar port






Two Chinese naval vessels comprising Zheng He training vessel and Wei Fang defense vessel called at the Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT) in Yangon's Thanlyin township Friday morning as its second leg of Asian voyage.On a five-day goodwill visit to Myanmar, the Chinese naval vessels' call aims to enhance exchange and cooperation and increase mutual understanding and friendly ties between navies of the two countries.Welcoming the Chinese naval vessels at the Thilawa port terminal were Chinese embassy officials, headed by Charge d' Affaires Chen Cheng and the military attache, representatives of Chinese enterprises investing in Myanmar and Chinese residents as well as that of Myanmar navy.During its call in Myanmar, commanders of the Chinese navy vessels will call on Myanmar's Ayeyawaddy region naval commander and will proceed to Nay Pyi Taw to continue call on Myanmar Navy Chief.Besides launching joint naval exercise with the Myanmar navy, the Chinese naval vessels will also carry out cultural exchange with the Myanmar side and open to the public for show.The Chinese naval vessels will proceed to India, Indonesia and Vietnam.The visiting Chinese navy vessels carry 563 members including 171 trainees from the Chinese side, while 11 others are maritime students from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh and South Korea.
