Driving Me Mad!

?Driving? Me Mad!

?Driving? Me Mad!

From the age of sixteen my son was pestering my husband and I about how much we were willing to shell out for his driving test. It was a constant topic of debate. Last month, he finally passed his test. Of course now the nagging has changed. Will we put him on our insurance? Can we help him buy a Skoda Fabia Londoncar? Its a real headache but if I ever want to have a peaceful life again ,I am going to have to help him out. So what really is the best advice on insurance for a newly passed driver? Lets find out.

Exactly how do I find the best insurance premium? Trawling the internet for some advice I actually found suggestions that having no insurance at all is probably the cheapest option because even if you fined, the fine will be less than the original insurance cost. Interesting, but not viable. The best option would be to add him as a named driver to my existing policy. As I drive a small Ford Fiesta the cost shouldn?t be too high. As he is only a named driver it is presumed that he is not the main driver of the car and if this was the case the cover could be void.

Additionally new drivers can do a Pass Plus test which assists new drivers to train their skills even further. Doing the test will provide insurance discount once you have the certificate. New drivers should also consider purchasing cars which are in Group One or Two as they offer cheaper premiums. Think Toyota Aygo as a starting point.
