As far as motor manufacturers go Mitsubishi, the Japanese car manufacturer had been quiet of late. Since it stopped participating or winning in the World Rally Championship we have not heard a lot from the brand. But, as of last year there has been a lot of news about Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV has put the brand under the spotlight once again.
Mitsubishi?s May sales figures have been announced by the company, the figures have shown a 82% increase for year on year sales. If 82% wasn?t a large enough increase, we have to take into account that the UK car market is down 2% year on year.
Total Mitsubishi passenger car sales for May 2010 were 489, however in May 2011 the figure was 888, an increase of 399 units. The Mitsubishi Shogun saw a 34% increase over the same period with Lancer registrations also increased by 94%.
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK's Managing Director, Lance Bradley said: "This was a very strong month for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and is another piece of good news for us and our dealer network. We have more new low-emissions products coming soon and a very stable and profitable dealer network, so all the signs are good for a continued successful future."
The "Intelligent Motion" range of Mitsubishi models, which includes the Mitsubishi ASX and Outlander crossover vehicles are outselling expectations. Sales of the Mitsubishi Outlander increased by 195% compared to the same time last year, 11% of which comes from the new 2WD model. Mitsubishi servicing Oxford has also reported an increase in revenue generated by after sales and servicing.
