If you?re looking to buy a used Volkswagen, then you?re a bit too early to be looking at a new Volkswagen Up! as this little city car is new to the market. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Up! is due to be available to buy in the UK in the spring. The Volkswagen Up! replaces the Fox and will originally be available as a three door, but a five door is expected to follow. At only 3540mm long and 1640mm wide, the Up! is short, yet still has enough room to fit four people easily thanks to its wheelbase which is near identical to the Polo?s. Storage space is surprisingly good in this small car, with 251 litres with the seats up, and a cavernous 951 litres with the rear seats folded flat. The Up! has an exciting amount of features. Even the entry level model gets six airbags, stability control and power steering, plus city braking auto-stop as an option. An affordable multimedia/sat-nav system will be available too. Engine options include two 1.0 litre, three-cylinder units offering 59bhp or 74bhp. An electric version will follow in 2013, as will a BlueMotion model that will feature start-stop technology. This car returns an impressive 67mpg and has sub 100g/km of CO2 emissions, making the London Congestion Charge and road tax free. Next in line is set to be the Volkswagen Up! GT, a super-sporty hot hatch. The GT will feature a turbocharged version of the same engine but at 110bhp it will be almost twice as powerful.
