Corruption fight hottest issue in June: survey |
BEIJING - The Communist Party's of China's (CPC) anti-corruption blitz was among the hottest issues in China in June, according to survey results released by the China Youth Daily on Wednesday. Of the top 20 issues ranked by the newspaper's "public opinion index," seven are related to the fall of senior officials. The expulsion from the Party of former military official Xu Caihou ranked second, followed by the investigation of Su Rong, former vice chairman of China's top political advisory body. Last month also witnessed the downfall of Ling Zhengce, vice chairman of the Shanxi provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Jiang Jiemin, head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission; and Li Dongsheng, vice minister of public security. The issue capturing the most attention was a heroic scene on June 10, when a township official gave himself as a hostage to a gangster in exchange for a civilian. Two students grabbing a knife off a man who launched a stabbing spree on a bus ranks fifth. Tags:
