New Avensis And Prius Family At The Frankfurt Show

When it comes to hybrid and electric plug-in technology Toyota appears to be ahead of the curve. The Prius was the first practical mass produced hybrid car, the Honda Civic followed shortly after. The Prius was the first hybrid electric vehicle and it remains ahead of its competitors, Toyota is now starting to introduce other Hybrid models.

At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show Toyota will unveil the new Avensis Plug-In Hybrid, the Prius+, which is a Plug-In electric 7 seat vehicle. The two hybrid models will be accompanied by a conventional powered but new Toyota Yaris. As well as getting excited about the new Avensis, the latest funky TV adverts for the Yaris have got me excited about the new Yaris too.

The new electric Avensis has been cosmetically changed to feature more of Toyota?s latest design cue and philosophy. The interior has also been given once over and looks and feels much better. Power trains and driving dynamics have also been improved.

Toyota will use the 2011 Frankfurt Show to introduce the Prius family, which consists of the hybrid model, the plug-in model and the 7 seat model of the Prius. The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid is the most technologically advanced Prius to made so far, with CO2 emissions as low as 49g/km. The Toyota Prius+, delivering sub-100g/km Co2 emissions is the first seven seat model in Europe powered by a full hybrid power train.

Toyota is pioneering the future of driving technology and alternative drive trains, no doubt other manufacturer will follow. But, with Toyota marching ahead you get the feeling the others will be playing catch for a little while yet. If you are in the market for a used Toyota car then make sure the Prius is on your list, it is definitely worth at least a test drive!
