Easter Used Car Sales

Easter Used Car Sales

Easter Used Car Sales

During Easter many used car sales in Cumbria showrooms report a dip in sales figures. People tend to use the Easter break to get away and go on a short break either abroad or within the UK. This has an effect on used car sales dramatically as it does with other retail businesses too.

Aston Barclay the used car auction group has advised retailers to price their cars according to demand and be realistic when setting these prices. The economic uncertainty and the constant media coverage of government cutbacks have led to a 15% reduction on conversion of cars entering auctions and being sold. The 15% reduction is in comparison to figures for March and early April last year.

David Scarborough the commercial director of Aston Barclay said, ?Traditionally, the car auction industry experiences a dip in sales around Easter but the signs are showing that it has arrived earlier than expected. We won?t be pressing the panic button, however if vendors want to sell their vehicles, our advice is to be realistic when valuing vehicles for part exchange and setting reserve prices. While our auctioneers work tirelessly to attain the best prices for our vendors, the reality is if the prices required are unrealistic against condition or desirability, vehicles won?t sell.?

My thoughts, if you are after a used car then its best to go out on the Easter weekend and do some car shopping rather than visiting the DIY centre and redecorating the spare room. If there are not many buyers about then car dealers will be happier to deal with you and negotiating should be easier.
